Nintendo smashes records with DS

Nintendo has achieved recording breaking sales of nearly 87,000 units in the first two days of its launch in the UK making it the biggest games hardware launch to date.

The handheld console, which retails at £99, flew out the shops helped by many stores opening at Midnight to fulfil gamers demands to get their hands on the latest handheld from Nintendo.

Gamers could also choose from a range of launch titles, of which Super Mario 64 DS, Wario Ware: Touched! and Rayman DS (Ubisoft) were the UK's top three selling titles respectively.

The UK sales figures follow in the wake of US and Japan where over 3 million Nintendo DS units have been sold worldwide since launch.
