It seems everyone is releasing products faster these days. Apple yesterday announced that it was updating iTunes from version 5 to version 6, 5 weeks after it launched. Now it seems Sony is at it as well with the announcement that it is updating the firmware for its handheld console the PSP.

Six weeks since its launch and 8 days since the last firmware update, Sony has updated the firmware again.

While rumours on the web are suggesting its Sony's attempt to curtail the hackers from using homebrew software, the new firmware does come with new features such as LocationFree TV playback, the ability to change and save text size and display modes in the internet browser.

The new firmware also promises internet history and users will also be able to play Copyright-protected video that is saved on Memory Stick Duo media.

Sony has also added support for Korean input.

Sony UK confirmed the new firmware will be available to UK customers early next year.
