Crazy Frog gets Ubisoft backing for Christmas release

D Ding Ding D Ding Ding

NEWS: 21 October 2005 10:33 GMT by Stuart Miles

When we reported that the Crazy Frog was coming to a PlayStation, PC and Game Boy Advance near you back in July we hoped that it would be a quiet release and one that wouldn't allow it to get to number one in the game charts.

All that seems to have changed now with the announcement that Ubisoft, one of the world's largest publishers will be distributing the game in the UK, Benelux, Australia, New Zealand and the export territories.

Crazy Frog Racer will be a wacky races style game that will supposedly appeal to all fans, young and old that really enjoyed that repetitive ringtone. Players can either choose to play as ‘The Annoying Thing' and D'Ding Ding their way to victory or take on the role of one of eight other unique playable characters and beat the frog at his own game.

There are 12 different tracks to work through including cityscapes and underground mazes, plus the option to play single-player or take on your mates in multi-player mayhem.

Crazy Frog Racer is scheduled to launch in November 2005 for PC CD-ROM and PlayStation 2.

Following its debut as a ringtone and mobile mascot, the Crazy Frog became a mainstream phenomenon, with its 'Axel F' single spending 4 weeks as the UK's best-selling single this year. Subsequent singles are in the pipeline, and an album was released this summer.
