Sony helps confused PSP owners with new software

PSP Media Manager Application promises easy transfer of files to PSP

NEWS: 1 November 2005 19:12 GMT by Stuart Miles

Sony's software arm has released a new PSP Media Manager Application that aims to help users confused about how to transfer content to and from their new handheld console.

The PSP Media Manager software provides quick navigation and thumbnail previews to easily identify photos and videos to move from the PC to PSP system, and even lets users select amongst different quality settings (bit rates) for the transferred media such as .mp4, .avi, .mpg, .mov, .wmv, and Sony's AVC (H.264) video encoding protocol.

Sony hopes users will buy the software to simplify the transfer process for transferring music, digital photos, and movies all via a USB-cable connecting their PSP system to a personal computer.

A download-only version is immediately available for US $19.95 from Sony's US site. Sony will also release a boxed version, which will include a 6-foot USB 2.0 cable, sample media, and five free song downloads from the CONNECT music store on December 1st with an MSRP of US $29.95.
