Dell puts a high price on XPS 600 Renegade

Got a spare $10,000 (£6000) to spend? Thought so

NEWS: 22 March 2006 19:22 GMT by Stuart Miles

Got a spare $10,000 (£6000) to spend? Thought so. Rather than use the extra cash to reduce the mortgage or buy a new family saloon, you might want to give it to Dell, and buy the company's new gaming machine, the XPS 600 Renegade desktop.

Previewed at CES and a beauty to behold (Pocket-lint was given an exclusive chance to see it earlier this year) the limited-edition, custom-painted DellTM XPS 600 Renegade delivers to US consumers probably the most spec'ed out PC we've ever seen.

The exclusive XPS desktop gaming system promises four specially designed graphics cards over two PCI slots to deliver graphics 10x greater than the Xbox360 console.

Called the XPS Renegade 600, the US exclusive desktop model, is the first PC to offer four of NVIDIA's flagship GeForce 7800 GTX GPUs with an NVIDIA nForce4 SLI X16 motherboard.

The stats for the machine are mind boggling: the unit can produce high definition resolutions - including up to 2560x1600 and offer 32x antialiasing and 16x anisotropic filtering images.

Aside from the impressive graphics cards, the desktop will include an Intel Pentium Extreme Edition Dual-Core 955W/HT which has been factory overclocked to 4.26GHz.

The PC will also include 2GB Dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz and be hand painted and signed by Mike Lavallee. Michael Dell's signature will also be on the box.

The company told Pocket-lint in January that it was hoping to sell around 100 units.
