Sony show off Gran Tursimo HD on PS3 - PLUS IMAGES

Impressive screenshots of what new console is capable of

Aside from setting out the pricing and availability of its new console, Sony has also been showing off its capabilities in the shape of Gran Tursimo HD at this year's E3 in Los Angeles.

Gran Turismo HD has been prepared in full HD resolution (i.e. 1920 x 1080p, p for progressive) and is displayed at a refresh rate of 60 frames per second.

According to Kazunori Yamauchi, creator of Gran Turismo "The visual quality in Gran Turismo HD is 12 times higher than Gran Turismo 4 on PlayStation 2"
