PSP gamers to get wireless download hotspots with PlayStationSpot

GAME, alongside HMV, Virgin and other retailers are urging customers to bring in their PSP handheld games consoles into selected stores this weekend be able to access downloadable content for free.

Called PlayStationSpot, the new service, launching on Friday 28 July, will allow gamers to download a wide variety of game demos, video content, movie trailers, music tracks, and images via a wireless connection.

All customers need to do is bring their PSP in-store, look for the PlayStationSpot logo and then select the content they want to download.

“Through the PlayStationSpot initiative, our PSP owning customers can gain free access to a rich collection of diverse content when they come into one of our ‘spot’ locations”, said Anna Macario, Marketing Director for GAME. “It offers customers an opportunity to try out games before they buy them and the incentive to keep coming in-store to get the latest content and offers available for download.”

Gamers in London can access the service at GAME or HMV in Oxford Street as well as Kings Cross. Outside London gamers can access the service in GAME in Milton Keynes, ePlay in Bristol, GameStation in Birmingham, HMV and the FutureSonic Festival in Manchester, Virgin in Leeds and Edinburgh and GamesStation in Glasgow.
