Microsoft's Live Vision camera for Xbox to debut next month

Camera will track gamer movements

NEWS: 16 August 2006 17:21 GMT by Amber Maitland

Microsoft is launching its Live Vision camera for the Xbox360 some time in September, the company announced at the Seattle Gamefest.

The camera will be bundled with a game called Totemball, in which a gamer will wheel a totem pole around objects and try to collect certain tokens.

Gamers’ movements will be captured by the camera so that they play the game without using a control pad, so that a similar affect will be had as when using Nintendo’s Wii remote.

The Live Vision camera will also be used for mapping gamers’ faces when creating avatars and functions as a webcam.

It’s expected to hit the shelves at around $40.
