Microsoft unveils three gaming accessories for Xbox 360 and PC

Two mice and a wireless controller for the Xbox360

NEWS: 23 August 2006 15:51 GMT by Amber Maitland

Microsoft has launched three new gaming peripherals at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany.

The first is an old favourite, the IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0, which is almost the same as the original and has been re-released with a few tweaks because of popular demand.

According to Microsoft, it offers “unmatched optical tracking performance and superior comfort”.

It offers 9000 frames per second for superior tracking ability, a Precision Booster that lets gamers switch between default and precision mode, a Gaming Toggle to switch between favoured weapons, and a scroll wheel with dents for accurate weapons changing.

The company has also teamed up with Razer, a US hardware designer, to create a new mouse.

Dubbed Habu, the new device offers a 16 bit data path, and features 2000 DPI laser sensor to reduce skipping and pixel jumping.

Other features include interchangeable side button panels with a choice of two options, On-the-fly DPI adjustment, always-on mode, high-speed motion detection, seven programmable buttons with Hyperesponse, and on-board profile memory lets gamers store up to 5 game control profiles.

Finally, Microsoft has also introduced a Wireless Controller for the Xbox360, which has all the same features as the wired version, but boasts a 30ft wireless range.

The IntelliMouse is available from October for £35; the Wireless Controller will be on sale in December; the Habu mouse will be on the shelves in October for £60.
