Microsoft has announced a price and launch date for its HD-DVD player in the UK.

Arriving at retailers in North America, the UK, France and Germany in mid-November 2006, the Xbox360 HD-DVD Player will retail for $199.99 in North America and €199.99 in France and Germany and a very cheap £129.99 in the UK.

The Xbox360 HD-DVD Player comes with the Universal Pictures’ blockbuster film Peter Jackson’s “King Kong” on HD-DVD (for a limited time) and the Xbox360 Universal Media Remote.

Users will be able to add the Xbox360 HD-DVD Player to Xbox360 to according to Microsoft "create the ultimate home-theatre experience".

Micrsoft has also announced that new Xbox360 consoles will have the ability to output native resolution 1080p games and movies.

The news means that Xbox360 gamers will be able to get Full HD quality movies four months ahead of PlayStation 3 owners.
