World of Warcraft gamers get dedicated machine

Better performance supposedly

NEWS: 25 November 2006 0:50 GMT by Stuart Miles

We've seen our fair share of mod machines made by hardcore fans dedicate to their favourite game however an American company WidowPC has launched what it is claiming is the first gaming computer designed especially for players of the popular online game, World of Warcraft.

Central to the machine’s boasts is an intelligent “Killer NIC” which boosts network performance via a dedicated processor that supposedly reduces that amount of lag experienced by the player in World of Warcraft and other massively multiplayer online (MMO) games.

"Most of our engineering staff are World of Warcraft players and have been designing PCs for their friends", said WidowPC chief executive Joshua McClure. "Our customers said we should offer an affordable machine that plays World of Warcraft exceptionally well."

Other features include the usual choice of high-end graphics cards, RAM configurable up to 4GB and AMD Athlon 64 processors from 3000+ upwards.

The system costs $1495 in the US.
