Sony sells PSP games via PS3 download

If you don't have a PS3, you're out of luck

NEWS: 6 December 2006 14:26 GMT by Amber Maitland

PSP owners now have a new way to get games for their handheld console: via the PlayStation Network.

The catch is that these PSP owners must also have purchased a PS3 in order to download the five new games, and judging by the shortages of consoles that have been reported worldwide, very few will have actually gotten their hands on one.

The five classic PlayStation titles that are available for $5.99 for download are Cool Boarders, Crash Bandicoot, Hot Shots Golf 2, Syphon Filter, and Tekken 2.

Sony promises that more first and third-party games will be added on an ongoing bases to the PlayStation Store, with a second batch of titles slated for release later this month.

“Downloadable PlayStation emulated games on the PSP is just the beginning, but it underscores our vision for leveraging the wide breadth of content that's available from the Playstation brand”, said Peter Dille, senior vice-president product marketing of SCEA.
