Wii goes retro crazy for 2007

Nintendo looks to their own and Sega’s past for new platform

NEWS: 10 January 2007 10:07 GMT by Chris Ford

The new year looks set to give Wii owners the chance to play all their old favourites on the new Nintendo platform.

From their home stable Nintendo are set to release 20 new Virtual Console titles covering their 20-year history. Available to download, will be games that originally saw the light of day on NES, SNES and N64.

Likewise, SEGA have been looking to their back catalogues and are releasing nine classic games including Streets of Rage, Bio-Hazard Battle, Bonanza Bros and Comix Zone.

Hudson is also getting in on the action with a range of its best titles from Turbografx (PC Engine) including Soldier Blade, Double Dungeons and New Adventure Island.

Wii owners can download Virtual Console games using Wii Points which can be purchased online on the Wii Shop Channel with a credit card, or by buying Wii Points cards in retail stores. These points can then be redeemed against Virtual Console games via the Wii Shop Channel.
