Weekend was WoW despite tonight being official launch

VU had a party planned for the next two nights

NEWS: 15 January 2007 15:54 GMT by Chris Ford

Despite a date arrangement, retailers began selling the expansion pack World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade over the weekend across the UK.

The official launch is tonight, the 15th, with an event taking place in HMV Oxford Street but a major supermarket started selling the game on Saturday and the smaller independants soon followed.

Generally, new software in the UK goes on sale on Friday, but exceptions can be made if events are planned. However, once a retailer takes delivery of the games there is little to stop them selling them as they please.

The broken street date may be a pain for VU Games and distributor Centresoft, but it's unlikely to ruin the official launch. Blizzard designer Jon LeCraft will be around to sign copies of the expansion pack, and other events will take place around Europe tomorrow, the 16th.
