This year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC), where more than 12,500 game industry professionals are expected to convene, will feature a very special guest to give a keynote.

Shigeru Miyamoto, the videogame development legend, is set to make an all too rare appearance in his first speech since 1999.

Miyamoto, described by some as the “Spielberg of videogames”, is Nintendo’s Senior Managing Director and General Manager, Entertainment Analysis & Development Division and is the man behind Donkey Kong, Mario Bros and Zelda among many others.

The games legend joined Nintendo in 1977 at the bottom and worked his way up being involved in over 100 titles, many of which were record-breaking, genre-defining classics.

Miyamoto’s keynote, “A Creative Vision”, where he will reveal how a singular creative vision drives his work, will take place from 10:30-11:30am in the Esplanade Room of the Moscone Centre’s South Hall on Thursday, March 8.
