The Wii diet plan

Great news for fat agoraphobics

NEWS: 23 January 2007 9:10 GMT by Chris Ford

An American man has reported that his new Nintendo console has helped him fight the flab.

Mickey DeLorenzo, 25, from Philadelphia, claims a 9 pound loss on his blog along with posting "before" and "after" pictures of himself. Also posting his personal stats, like heart rate and body mass index, he claims no other change to his daily routine apart from Wii game play.

Playing for just 30 minutes a day, Mr. DeLorenzo recorded, “I moved my feet, I used full body motion, and I swung my arms to mimic the real thing. If you just stand there and make small moves or sit on the couch and play, I don’t think you’ll get much, if any, results regarding exercise”.

Well it’s good news then for anyone with an aversion to going outside then, and not the first time that fat burning videogames have been in the news. Dance Dance Revolution (DDR), first introduced into arcades in 1998, was brought into over 750 American schools as part of their sports curricula.

A recent study showed that games such as DDR can burn up to six times as many calories as traditional games. Like what, we here at Gamesdog wonder. Chess? Darts? Have they never heard of football?!
