Activision joins the record club

Another publisher posts record profits

NEWS: 29 January 2007 9:50 GMT by Chris Ford

Activision has joined the ranks of other publishers in achieving record profits last year, expecting revenues of $822.8 Million (EUR 636.7m) up to the third quarter 2006.

Sales were driven by four key titles including Call of Duty, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Tony Hawk's Project 8 and Guitar Hero.

Revenue beat the US $816.2 million (EUR 631.5m) from the same period 2005, going way beyond the estimated $600 million (EUR 464.2m).

"Net revenues for the third quarter of fiscal 2007 are expected to be the highest in Activision's history", said Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision.

However, the publisher does expect fourth quarter results to be down, $175 million (EUR 135.4m) to $170 million (EUR 131.5), due to an ongoing costs of a stock option review, and also a delay to 2008 of Quake Wars: Enemy Territory.
