Lord of the Rings put on back burner

Epic RPG won’t see the light for way over a year

NEWS: 2 February 2007 11:25 GMT by Chris Ford

The persistent rumours of a delay to The Lord of the Rings: The White Council have been confirmed today, breaking the hearts of the epic’s fans.

The title, which was to be released holiday season 2007 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, has been officially put back after comments made by EA CEO Warren Jenson.

“The Lord of the Rings product is back in development terms of being on hold”, he told an analyst, in confusing management speak, who had queried whether the game had been scrapped altogether.

EA haven't confirmed if the title has been cancelled but Jenson did say that the game wouldn’t be out before the end of the next financial year, that’s March 31 2008!

He also said that EA is “looking at the creative positioning and feature set on the Lord of the Rings franchise”.

These guys might be great at making games but they sure as hell make it difficult for anyone to understand what they’re talking about at times!
