With the GDC 2007 just 2 months away, finalists for the seventh annual Game Developers Choice Awards have been announced.

In the lead with the largest number of nominations are Capcom's Okami and Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, both with four nominations including Best Game, Game Design and Visual Arts.

The other three in the running for Best Game are Gears of War, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Wii Sports, the latter of which has notched up nominations in the Game Design category, along with Rockstar's Bully and Rare's Viva Piñata.

Character Design might go to Final Fantasy XII, Rayman Raving Rabbids, LocoRoco, Okami or Viva Piñata.

Technology wise it's a good year for Xbox exclusives Gears of War, Table Tennis and Dead Rising, along with THQ's PC title Company of Heroes, and another possibility for Wii Sports.

Okami, Oblivion, Gears of War, Final Fantasy XII and Viva Piñata go down for Visual Arts.

And last but not least, the list of nominees for New Studio is comprised of Daxter developer Ready At Dawn, Iron Lore (Titan Quest), Gastronaut (Small Arms), Naked Sky (RoboBlitz) and Wadjet Eye Games (The Shiva).

Awards will be announced at a special ceremony on Wednesday March 7 in the Esplanade ballroom at 6.30pm.
