Konami laid out the groundwork for a Metal Gear movie at last year’s E3, with Studio Kojima only mentioning that it had finalized a contract with a “party in Hollywood”.

Now, 8 months on, it has been revealed that that party is in fact Sony Pictures. Sony Pictures Entertainemt vice chairman Yair Landau simply said, “We’re working with the Metal Gear guys”.

He went on to clarify, “It’s a very cinematic game, it really lends itself to movie telling. But the question is, ‘How do you translate Snake’s experience in to a full arc that conforms to what audiences expect on the large screen?’”.

Well, Yair, you’re the expert.

He went on to say, at the D.I.C.E summit in Las Vegas, that Metal Gear may only be the beginning of a long and loving relationship.

“We’re working with one of my favourite producers right now on an idea for an Everquest movie.”

Landau did, however, decline, to name the producer.
