New Mercenaries title to soldier for fortune

The dogs of war gear up for a winter operation

NEWS: 12 February 2007 10:21 GMT by Chris Ford

Electronic Arts has joined forces with independent developer Pandemic to sign the publishing rights for Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, the forthcoming PS3 title which will leave little in its wake, apparently "2007 holiday season".

The first Mercenaries game, unleashed back in 2005 on Xbox and PS2, was critically acclaimed and combined action with an open world setting.

Although the sequel is only mooted as a PS3 exclusive, rumours abound of an Xbox 360 version.

"Mercenaries 2: World in Flames will set the bar for explosive, open world action games in the next generation, and everyone at Pandemic is excited that fans will be able to get their hands on it later this year", said Pandemic CEO Andrew Goldman.
