Website Play.com has reported that their alloted PS3’s are being pre-ordered at an unprecidented rate, taking six times the number of orders than for the 360 and 15 times the number than for the Wii.

The retailer is offering a £524.99 pack which includes a 60GB console along with first-party titles MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and Genji. Simply put, the PS3 is "the most pre-ordered console yet" according to head of games Gian Luzio.

Following disappointment on Wii and 360 launch days when some fans didn’t receive their pre-ordered consoles, Play.com have garanteed things will be different for PS3.

"We have taken the necessary steps to ensure that customers will only be able to pre-order the system up until Play's allocation has been reached", said Luzio.

"We will always want more consoles to satisfy customer demand, however, we are satisfied that Sony are doing all they can to fulfil demand."

Amazon and woolworths are also reporting record breaking pre-orders, according to a Sony spokesperson.
