Well, a fine looking 2007 has just brightened even further with the announcement that a free Gran Turismo download will be up for grabs on PS3 launch day, March 23.

Gran Turismo HD Concept is its name and it will give gamers a taste of what’s to come from the 47 million selling racing series, and Sony have promised that its just the beginning for what Gran Turismo will do in 2007.

The download is a playable one-track with players starting with one car on the Eiger Nordwand track in the Swiss Alps.

Complete the track within the time limit, and another car is unlocked, with nine further cars to unlock in total including a Ferrari 599 – the first time a Ferrari has appeared in Gran Turismo.

Gran Turismo HD Concept will also include an online Time Trial to create a rankings system. Players will be able to see how their times compare and go up against the best.
