S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is ready to go

NEWS: 8 March 2007 8:05 GMT by Chris Ford

It seems that THQ have, at last, put the finishing touches to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, and the eagerly awaited title has gone gold and is now entering manufacturing.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a unique mix of First-Person Shooter (FPS) and action, all of which is set in open-world environment, and to be launched on March 23 for the PC.

The action takes place in 2006, 20 years after the disaster at Chernobyl, when unexplained explosions force a military exclusion zone set up to prevent access to the area. There have, however, been sightings of strange creatures and players must assume the role of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R., a mercenary paid by scientists and other undisclosed groups.

Gamers will undergo a unique ‘Survival-Shooter’ game that combines action, stealth, survival and Role-Playing Game (RPG) elements to create an incomparable experience in the Zone.
