It appears that Midway is in hot legal water over its 2004 title Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy.

The games giant is being sued by a screenwriter who is claiming that both the character and plot were taken from a script of his that he penned in 1998.

The suit, which was filed on for screenwriter William L. Crawford III, claims that he visited the 2001 E3 to publicise the project, as well as setting up websites of the story and art.

Both the title and screenplay feature government forces that are trained in psychic combat, with the claim stating that even details such as clothing, build and background are almost identical.

The US Copyright Office has both screenplay and game registered on its website and Crawford is after at least $1.5 million in damages.
