It seems that Turning Point: Fall of Liberty is it then, picking up the "Turning Point" to give a glimmer of hope as Washington DC comes under attack by the Nazis.
The much touted Codemasters and Spark Unlimited alternative reality WWII FPS is scheduled for a fourth quarter 2007 launch on the Xbox 360, PC and PS3.
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty puts forward a lot of what-ifs … what if Winston Churchill didn’t survive being hit by a taxi while crossing the street in New York in 1931? What if England had surrendered to Hitler? What if there was no D-Day, and Pearl Harbour never happened? What if the United States never looked for the fight until the fight came looking for the US?
The year is 1952 and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty sees Nazi forces land a well planned surprise attack on New York. The Kriegsmarine take the harbour while the Luftwaffe pounds the city and troops take the city block by block. New York is set to fall and the Nazis have Washington DC in their sights.
“Spark is very excited to be working with Codemasters to bring to life an event gaming experience that will dramatise what might have happened if history had taken a different course”, says Craig Allen, CEO of Spark Unlimited.
“We share a desire to immerse players in an incredible and intensely realistic vision of an alternative world history that will uniquely define Fall of Liberty in the FPS genre. Codemasters is providing Spark the opportunity to present something radically different than typical WWII scenarios as the player is not cast as a liberator of Europe but as a defender of freedom in enemy-occupied America.”
