The Con confirmed … or is it?

Where fighting and gambling go hand in hand

NEWS: 21 March 2007 10:43 GMT by Chris Ford

It’s official. SouthPeak Games has confirmed that The Con, the innovative new fighting game for PSP, will see a UK launch on March 30.

The Con hopes to make its mark on the gaming world, standing out from the crowd, by combining a deep, tactically complex fighting engine with a unique gambling system, and plenty of scope for player character customisation.

The Con was developed in Japan by Think And Feel Inc, and tells the story of a fighter who’s in the pocket of an influential organiser of illegal street fights. Being in debt to this guy is not something you want to be!

True to the nature of prize fighting, the betting can go either way, especially if someone has been told to take a dive. Priorities get turned on their heads and allow the player to gamble on either side winning each fight. This opens up new ways of making cash via subterfuge, guile and technique. Making money may be more important than winning with honour, but make sure you lose convincingly or the crowd will turn on you and you won’t get paid.

Physique, clothing and accessories are all up for customisation and you can even import photographs - you, a friend, family, someone famous – and with the multi-player mode you can even wager unlocked items in fights with your friends.
