Alienware overclocks desktops with quad-core processors

Faster than a fast thing

NEWS: 22 March 2007 16:21 GMT by Stuart Miles

Gaming PC specialist Alienware is now offering Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 quad-core overclocked processors as standard in the Area-51 ALX desktop machines the company has announced.

“With four processing cores, the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 processor was already a performance powerhouse to begin with”, said Frank Azor, Senior Vice President of Alienware’s Worldwide Product Group. “We designed our latest P2 desktop chassis with the future upgradeability and performance in mind. It is these types of innovations that continue to enable Alienware to lead the market in performance and customization.”

Alienware says it has increased the clock rate of the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 from the default level of 2.66GHz to 3.2GHz.

Customers will have the option of choosing the quad-core overclocked processor in the Area-51 7500 desktop, a recent PC Gamer Editors' Choice award winner.
