New Overlord screens just to show you who’s the boss

Codemasters bringing the hurt this summer

NEWS: 27 March 2007 10:18 GMT by Chris Ford

The name of the game is Overlord. The object? Well, that’s up to you. You can be bad, really bad, or downright evil!

Overlord, from Codemasters, should be with us sometime in the summer 2007 on Xbox 360 and PC with the help of developers Triumph Studios, which was involved with Age of Wonders.

Bringing stunning action/adventure, Overlord is set in a seriously warped fantasy world where gamers control a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord.

You emerge, near death, from the ruins of the old Overlord’s Dark Tower and only your actions will determine if you rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord or sink without a trace. That’s where the being bad or really bad comes in.

Key to your success will be your array of impish creatures – the Minions. They believe you are the old Overlord reborn and will use their unique skills to fetch, fight and die for you. Throughout the game players can actively control a horde of these gremlin-like critters and they’ll follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or, for the Minions, life threatening it is.

Lennart Sas, Director at Triumph Studios commented, “Overlord offers a wealth of freedom and allows players to experience classic fantasy like never before. Working with the minions, players can loot and pillage their way through the game’s world or maybe resist the temptations of evil. In Overlord, player choices truly shape the world”.

Barry Jafrato, Senior VP of Brand for Codemasters, continued, “Overlord comes loaded with innovative and compelling game mechanics wrapped in a scenario that’s played out with plenty of black humour. We’re delighted to be working with Triumph on the title, bringing something fresh and original to next-generation gamers”.
