NEWS: 28 March 2007 9:53 GMT by Chris Ford

April 6 will be a date that North American fans of The Lord of the Rings will be putting in their diaries as Turbine and Midway Games have announced a massive, free "World Tour of Middle-earth" for online gamers throughout North America.

The word is that more than one million players in the US and Canada are going to be invited into The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, from April 6th until the anticipated launch of the game on April 24.

"We decided to launch the World Tour of Middle-earth because of the overwhelming demand from players to get into the closed beta", said Jeffrey Anderson, President and CEO of Turbine, Inc.

"We expect the World Tour of Middle-earth to be a spectacular event like nothing that you've ever seen before."

The Lord of the Rings Online’s staggering size make this an unprecedented event in the MMO industry, and everyone wishing to take part can follow the link below to get their key.

Is this fair? A tour just for North American gamers is leaving out a whole load of fans from other territories!
