There’s bad news for Sony as their next-gen offering gets through its second week with sales 82% down on its first seven days.

Figures released by Chart Track show sales from across 7000 UK retail outlets including GAME, Play.com, HMV, Asda and Gamestation which together represent 90% of UK software sales.

A Chart Track spokesperson confirmed the slump commenting, "Yes, sales of PS3 hardware have dropped by 82%".

In its first week, Sony had shifted 165,000 PS3 units in the first two days following the launch, making it the fastest-selling home console ever in the UK.

"We publish the first week figures because there's such a clamour for them that we can't keep it a secret", the spokesperson went on to say.
