Sony CEO Howard Stringer has stated that almost 800,000 units have already been sold in Europe making the European PS3 launch a success.

In the Financial Times newspaper Stringer commented, "I think [in] the first two days in the UK, £100m/US$199m revenue changed hands and that's probably the largest consumer electronics sale in history".

He also mused over the difference between the European launch and that in Japan, saying that Europe hasn’t experienced "the perception wars" like those in Japan, and he also recognised that the PS3 launched with more games in Europe than Japan.
