PS3 backward compatibility problems persist - new download lists

The new downloads weigh heavily in favour for the PSP

NEWS: 25 April 2007 10:39 GMT by Chris Ford

Many PS3 owners were hoping that the PS3 1.7 firmware update would open many doors to old and classic PlayStation games but the new list shows that it still veers largely towards the PSP with many titles still only for the handheld.

There is other news however, namely the inter-savability of games which are playable on both PS3 and PSP. You can save a game and continue to play on the other format, and then go back again as you wish.

The downloads will become available tomorrow, April 26, and fans will find just 11 games available for the PS3, listed below:

•A.IV. Evolution Global (Artdink)
•Arc the Land (Sony)
•Bishibashi Special (Konami)
•Ganbare Morikawa-kun Ni-go (Sony)
•Gunners Heaven (Sony)
•Marl Oukoku no Ningyou Hime (Nippon Ichi)
•Ore no Shi wo Koete Yuke (Sony)
•R-Types (Irem)
•Resident Evil Directors Edition (Capcom)
•Spectral Force (Idea Factory)
•Tekken 2 (Bandai Namco)

Good news for the PSP because in addition to the games listed above, gamers will also be bale to get their mitts on the following:

•A5: Take the A-Train 5 (Artdink)
•Bakumatsu Roman: Gekka no Kenshi (The Last Blade, SNK Playmore)
•CG Mukashi Banashi Jiisan Ni-do Bikkuri (Idea Factory)
•Fushigi Keiji (Capcom)
•Garou Densetsu Wild Ambition (Fatal Fury Wild Ambition, SNK Playmore)
•Ikasama Mahjong (Idea Factory)
•Jigsaw World (Nippon Ichi)
•Kenkaku Ibunroku Yomigaerishi Soukou no Yaiba Samurai Spirits Shinshou (Samurai Showdown Warriors Rage, SNK Playmore)
•Lunatic Dawn III (Artdink)
•Metal Slug X (SNK Playmore)
•Philsoma (Sony)
•Real Bout Garou Densetsu (aka Real Bout Fatal Fury, SNK Playmore)
•Wai Wai Tennis Plus (Hamster)
•Yaku Tsu Noroi no Game (Idea Factory)
