The Sims movie in first stages

Just what it’s going to be about is anybody’s guess

NEWS: 25 May 2007 13:55 GMT by Chris Ford

We’ve continually reported the boom in game-to-film projects, but the latest, The Sims, will really put the screenwriters to the test.

20th Century fox has picked up the rights to EA’s The Sims, and Brian Lynch, who worked on Love & Rage and Big Helium Dog, has set to seeing what can be done to turn the life sim game into a workable script.

The film will be live action, according to an article in Variety magazine, meaning there’ll be actors rather than animation but as of yet there’s been no mention of possibilities.

EA's Sims Studio boss Rod Humble said, "The Sims has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it's like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it. Given that that's an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling."
