360 to see the first new Pac-Man mazes in 26 years

The all-time classic of classics returns to Xbox Live

NEWS: 6 June 2007 11:22 GMT by Chris Ford

1981 was the year… a time of flares, punks, high unemployment and, of course, Pac-Man.

Well, a lot has changed in the last two decades but returning to give us a taste of what we’ve been missing, or what many of the younger gamers never knew, is the little yellow man.

Pac-Man Championship Edition is the brain child of Namco Bandai and will feature not only classic mazes but new mazes that dynamically change shape during gameplay, six new timed game modes, new soundtracks and high-definition (HD) graphics.

The game is available for download on Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points as o today, June 6.

"'Pac-Man' was the game that ignited the world's passion for video games, with every member of the family hooked on avoiding Clyde and eating up all the Power Pellets," said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft.

"It is a tremendous honour that NAMCO BANDAI and Toru Iwatani are going to use the power of the Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE Arcade platform to deliver the next evolution of 'Pac-Man' to the world."
