TheGamePort.co.uk to bring online game swapping

They say it’s cheap, safe and fast

NEWS: 11 June 2007 0:24 GMT by Chris Ford

UK gamers now have a new way to swap their old games with Gameport.co.uk, has been launched.

Innovative Web technologies lie at the heart of the service and the technology is able to match complex swaps between thousands of members and form recommendations based on the member’s tastes and habits to ensure fairer distribution.

In order to use the site you have to be a member but after that there’s no fee when sending games. If nobody is interested in a swap then there is nothing to pay unlike eBay’s listing fee and a buyer only has to pay 99p(1 trading token) per game when they receive a swap.

John Ellen, Managing Director of TheGamePort, said, "For some time now I had been trying to get rid of my unwanted, played games. An avid gamer myself, I found the only way I could achieve this was by spending endless time listing them on eBay or online marketplaces such as Amazon, and then having to wait patiently for someone to come along and buy them.”

“Once I had found a buyer, I would then have to wait days for payment to reach my bank account before I could actually send the requested game out. Great! So I had got rid of my unwanted games but now I needed to find somewhere to buy the games I wanted.”

“After searching through online shopping portals I would find a game I wanted but would then have to wait a further 5 days for it to be delivered at my door! It was all too long winded and time consuming for me, which spurred me on to come up with a revolutionary online swapping platform.”
