Speedball II matches up with Xbox Live

Sports combat fighting to be played this summer

NEWS: 12 June 2007 10:12 GMT by Chris Ford

A while back we brought you news of Speedball II’s imminent conversion to the 360 and now Empire Interactive has told us that August is when we can expect this classic monster of playing field mayhem.

The venue will be Xbox LIVE arcade, unsurprising as for months it has been the number one requested game by fans.

Empire hopes to repeat the success of the original launch back in 1990 when the game sold over 2 million copies – almost unheard of at the time – and both old fans and new can expect the best from this all-time great.

The Xbox LIVE Arcade version is a perfect conversion of Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe, but with the addition of an all-new High Definition version, more teams and downloadable content.

“We are pleased to be bringing this all time classic to Xbox LIVE Arcade,” commented Ian Higgins, CEO Empire Interactive.

“With its brutal and addictive gameplay, and the ability to play multiplayer over Xbox LIVE, we are sure this will be the definitive version of Speedball”
