Law and Order game comes under fire for Bulger footage

CCTV image of abduction lands title in hot water

NEWS: 20 June 2007 0:01 GMT by Chris Ford

Double or Nothing, one of the games in the Law and Order series for PC has come under close scrutiny for containing a CCTV image of Jamie Bulger’s abduction.

The title which requires players to solve a murder case shows the image as part of the story but now the publisher is being forced to remove the image, taking it off the shelves in the UK. It is unclear whether copies will be withdrawn from sale in the U.S though.

Jamie Bulger was abducted and murdered by two ten year old boys in 1993. The case was reported worldwide and caused outrage throughout Britain and Liverpool, in particular, where the murder took place.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Charlie Duldulao of Legacy Interactive said, "Legacy has issued a formal apology which was referred to by the BBC. We did not realise the photo had made it into the game, and it was not our intention to cause offense."
