Alienware launches Area-51 m9750 notebook in the UK

"Breakthrough" super-notebook for gamers

NEWS: 27 June 2007 13:28 GMT by

Announced at CES earlier this year, Alienware have finally got around to announcing the launch of their latest gaming notebook – the Area-51 m9750 - in the UK.

With the boast of being to be the first 17-inch notebook in the world to fuse the two (!) NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics cards combined with the speed of Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors, in theory this will run so fast, and in such graphic detail, it will make your ears bleed.

In addition to gaming credentials that would make most people's home PCs look like a ZX Spectrum, the m9750 also offers the ability to store entire collections of games, TV programs, movies and music on dual hard drives packing up to 500GB of storage space.

There are also a plethora of multimedia features, including an ultra-sharp 17-inch widescreen display featuring Clearview technology, an built-in webcam and an integrated TV tuner with full DVR functionality, and Vivid Blu-ray Disc movie playback using NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology for 6x the detail of standard DVD movies.

Pocket-lint.co.uk got a sneak preview of this earlier in the year at CES 2007 and the stats are impressive, although the notebook's sheer bulk (understandable when you consider what it's packing under that smooth black veneer) may put some off who need a more portable system.

The Alienware Area-51 m9750 is available now from £1269.
