Dungeons and Dragons license maintained by Infogrames

Rights to other board games also change hands

NEWS: 19 July 2007 9:39 GMT by Chris Ford

In a deal with Hasbro, Infogrames has come to an agreement over the license to Dungeons and Dragons as well as a load more board games.

Keeping the classic role play game under its control, Hasbro then bought the rights to Monopoly, Scrabble, Risk, The Game of Life, Clue, Yahtzee, Battleship, Boggle, and Simon for $19.5 million.

The contract will take Infogrames control through to 2017, and give the company rights that cover all formats, and online and wireless.

"This agreement represents a reaffirmation of our partnership with Hasbro," said Infogrames' Patrick Leleu.

"It is an important step in our business strategy that will allow us to keep and strengthen a franchise with significant potential, while giving the group additional resources to invest in the relaunch of its publishing business."
