Michael Owen, the Newcastle and England striker, is to join Ronaldo in the privilege of having his beautiful visage plastered over thousands of copies of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Konami has announced.

As well as the packing of the UK’s games, he will also be staring out from promotional material on the latest PES.

The game is set to shoot in the Autumn on PS3, Xbox360, PS2, Nintendo DS, PC and PSP.

And, what is more, it looks like Michael is as diplomatic and spontaneous as Ronaldo… here’s what he had to say.

“PES 2008 is a fantastic game, and the only choice for pro players,” added Michael Owen. “It enjoys a brilliant reputation within many, many players and manages to be a true simulation of football while also being a real laugh to play.
