Metal Gear fans should brace themselves for some immense news - The influential action adventure is heading to more formats and with more applications, and soon!
First up is the news of an online version with the beta version supposedly open for registration today. Fans should keep an eye on the Konami website (see link below). The beta will run from August 20 to September 3 for a lucky 3000 gamers so be ready to pounce if you want a space.
Metal Gear Online itself will give up to 16 players the chance to fight it out… or hide and wait for the opportunity to strike. At a presentation in Tokyo today, Konami talked about a new team system called SOKKU, which allows gamers to access info on their allies, and even see them through walls.
And mobile phone gamers won’t be missing out on the Metal Gear fun either as Snake is heading out on EZweb with a particular Sony Ericson model as a default application. Metal Gear Solid Mobile is going to be set in the Metal Gear Solid 3 world and be fully 3D.
Lastly, there’s been news that Konami has plans for a brand new digital graphic novel for the PSP called Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinee. The comic will feature full voice acting and has been described as the most sophisticated digital comic produced so far.
