Mario Party 8 back after clean up

The withdrawn title to hit shelves again in August

NEWS: 26 July 2007 13:38 GMT by Chris Ford

Mario Party 8 hit the news a while back after it was discovered that the word “spastic” had been used and complaints had been made. Well, Nintendo has cleaned up its act and the title is heading back to the shops.

The title will re-launch August 3 and Nintendo has been keen to point out that the new version won’t cause offence, although there may still be a few rouge copies out there.

“The offending word has been replaced at code level and the software reproduced,” said a Nintendo spokesperson.

“We are confident we have taken the correct appropriate levels and action necessary and in all new versions of the game there are no issues – however we cannot 100 per cent guarantee that every copy of the initial batch was returned to us and as such there may still be a small number of copies of the game in circulation.”
