PlayStations installed in UK prisons

Gaming keeps the convicts happy apparently

NEWS: 26 July 2007 13:52 GMT by Chris Ford

The Labour party has announced that 120 PlayStations have been installed in UK prisons over the past two years.

The consoles have been made available to young offenders serving time at the cost of over £15,000.

Whereas prison warders appreciate any method of keeping their charges quiet, the news hasn’t been welcomed by everybody.

“We need to be focussing on getting young offenders back into the world of work, not allowing them to play computer games,” Tory justice spokesperson Nick Herbert said.
