Sony to deliver PSP video on demand with Sky

Details come through – more at Games Con in Leipzig

NEWS: 27 July 2007 9:39 GMT by Chris Ford

News has filtered through that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) and Sky have got together, created a joint venture company, and are set to provide video-on-demand to the PSP.

Details at this stage are very scarce but in a statement the new company says it’ll give PSP owners access to "a wealth of video and film content".

The service should be available sometime early 2008 with the obviously huge range that Sky would be able to delver, including sports, entertainment, movies, music and animation, and that's not to mention any third parties Sky may bring in.

Customers will be able to download their choice of programmes either directly to their PSP via a wi-fi connection or transfer content that's on their PC.

Well, that’s about all that’s known at the moment and the 2.3 million PSP owners in the UK and Ireland will have to wait until the Leipzig Games Convention on August 22 for more news.

The company also mentioned that discussions were being held regarding coverage for the rest of Europe.
