Details of a PS2 controller that functions with the PSP have been found in the U.S Patent Office.

The device which will make it all work has been called the Control Docking Unit in the application, and will basically connect the PS2 controller and handheld together.

The patent was filed back in September 2005, and goes on to describe the device as giving “additional functions, features or enhanced operation”.

Sounds intriguing, huh? Some have speculated about the relationship between the Control Docking Unit and the redesigned PSP which can be viewed on a normal TV, saying that the PSP would then become a fully fledged home console.

There as even been some speculation as to whether the Control Docking Unit will be built into the new Sixaxis.
