Sierra reveals sequel to Hulk… sort of

Game said to be a new franchise

NEWS: 31 July 2007 0:00 GMT by Chris Ford

Information about a new Hulk franchise has been made available, which although from the same developer as The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction will be something completely original.

Simply titled Prototype, the game is wanting to be an experience that offers unparalleled freedom in the open-world genre.

Gamers will play as Alex Mercer, a man who finds himself in a mysterious laboratory and with no memory of his past. The only way Alex is to survive is by "weaponizing" himself - he can absorb his enemies, claiming their memories, appearance, and abilities.

Speaking to Game Informer game designer Eric Holmes said, "We have the freedom with this property to do what we want and have the character be as bad as we want him to be.

"It's good to have a setup where you can do very bad things, and make them fantastic, but have them justified within the setting. We asked ourselves 'What do people want to do in a game?' We're creating a character that does what players want to do, and creating a structure and a framework around that which works."
