SKATE rolls into town September

Download demo on Xbox Live Marketplace in August

NEWS: 6 August 2007 0:00 GMT by Chris Ford

For skateboarders who are fed up of injuring themselves there’s always a virtual alternative, and this Autumn it’s going to be SKATE.

Released by EA for the 360 on September 21 and PS3 on October 12, SKATE is going to give gamers the chance to skate for more than just kicks.

In the game, everything you do works towards getting you coverage in two of skateboarding's premiere magazines - Thrasher and The Skateboard Mag. Coverage also means sponsors, product, money and fame. And the more famous you get, the more events you’ll be invited to.

What’s more, fans who want to take a peak at the game - which won “Best Sports Game of E3 - IGN Xbox 360” award at the E3 - before its launch can download a demo on Xbox LIVE on August 15.

The downloadable demo features tutorials and gameplay challenges in San Vanelona’s community centre skatepark to introduce gamers to SKATE’s revolutionary Flickit controls. The demo also includes the innovative skate.reel feature where gamers can capture video footage of their skate session at any time during the demo and share the footage online for other players to view, rate and comment on.
