BlizzCon got a taste of more than just games as conversation turned to the World of Warcraft film.
Blizzard’s Paul Sams and Chris Metzen took to the stage with Legendary Pictures' CEO Thomas Tull and chief creative officer Jon Jashni to tell all about the project.
The first thing that fans should take to heart is the partnership that Blizzard has chosen with Legendary Pictures as its pedigree with films like 300 and Batman Begins has placated gamers no end.
Anyway, the folks on stage took to talking about the no small amount of the budget of $100 million and a hopeful launch date in 2009, and though many key decisions haven’t been made yet, such as director and cast, fans have been assured that it’ll be a live-action film as opposed to animation.
And further to this fans were told that the film would not be a video-game movie, but rather an epic based on the concept of a video-game. And as for the story, it will very much be a war film, possibly set just before where the game starts when the alliance and horde first clash.
