Gaming fans of the Call of Duty series will have to wait until the 9 November to get their next fix.

Announced this week by publisher Activision, the game will be launching on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in time for the Christmas holidays.

Leaving the Second World War behind, the new episode, whose full title is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will see gamers accessing an arsenal of advanced and powerful modern day firepower.

According to Activision, players will be able to play as both a US Marine and British SAS soldier fighting through an unfolding story full of twists and turns.

The epic title also delivers an added depth of multi-player action providing online fans an all-new community of persistence, addictive and customisable gameplay.
